MASGA Results - July 14th & 15th
Under Clear Skys and some Hot and Humid weather the MId Atlantic Super Gas Association got races #3 and #4 in the books for the season at Cecil County Dragway. A total of 34 cars rolled into the gates on Saturday morning as we had racers from New York all the way down to Virginia joined us for a weekend of fun.
On a hot and slippery track it took some of the best Super Gas racers on the East Coast to tame the tricky surface on Saturday. In the finals we had 2 new finalist as Super Street turned sometimes Super Gas racer Dave Harvey Sr. made it all the way to the final to face off against Don Knoblick and his Glen's Auto Repair 72 Vega. At the flash of the green Knoblick took a huge advantage and was way ahead but all the efforts to try to slow it down came up short as Knoblick ran out with a 9.898 sec run handing the win to Harvey who was actually competing in his first MASGA race. Congrats to Dave Harvey Sr. and the whole crew.
On Sunday the track was even hotter and everyone has their hands full with the high powered machines. 24 Cars made the call for Round 1 as some had prior engagments or mechanical gremlins put them down for the weekend. Matt Schurman beat Tom Goldman in the 3rd round to earn a bye run to the finals. In the Semi's Iggie Boicesco put together a 10 thousanths package to put away 1986 World Champ Ron Orbin. In the finals it was over at the flash as Boicesco put the red light on and sent Kim and the Boys into celebration as Matt picked up his first MASGA victory. Congrats to the whole Schurman crew.
Once again a big Thank You to everyone who braved the HOT and HUMID weather and came out and played this weekend with us. The car counts were great and we thank everyone for a great time. Also a BIG THANK YOU has to go out to UNCLE BUCK and the whole DONHAUSER CREW for putting on a BBQ for the ages on Saturday night. If you have never been to a MASGA race and you are a Super Gas racer on the east coast you need to mark your calenders for the 2008 season to come for "THE PIG ROAST".
In just a few short weeks the MASGA circut will kick back into action at the newest venue of Numidia Dragway on August 4th & 5th. This also is a race you cannot miss if you are a East Coast Super Gas racer as it's 4 races in 2 days. Saturday will be race #1 of the MASGA series along with the 2nd annual Sportsman Race. Sunday will be race #2 of the MASGA series along with a $2,500 to win bracket race. For info or questions you can visit the website or e-mail Leanne.
