Wow, what a week... As most of you know my relationship with my dad has been strained the last few years to say the least. We haven't spoken since June of last year, and I always feared something bad may happen while he and I were on the outs. Well last Tuesday he suffered a stroke while at home and luckily my cousin was there and found him, called 911 and he was taken to UVA in Charlottesville. I went and was with him Tuesday and Wednesday but he was out of it and I don't think he knew I was there. Went back today and he recognized me being there, he's going to have a long road of recovery and as soon as he's up to it, were gonna talk, hopefully repair what we can with our relationship. Forever he and I raced together, worked on the race car on a daily basis (pulling allot of all nighters just so I could make an event). Now I don't know if we can ever get back to that point in our relationship, but we damn sure can be better then we have been lately. Please keep him and our family in your prayers. My advise is that if you have someone that you really care about and means allot to you then don't let petty **** ruin your relationship, cause tomorrow isn't promised. I'm lucky that i have the chance to try and fix our (my mainly) issues and hope that we are able to do so. I love you dad, and I apologize for being an *** and stubborn. Goodnight guys, hopefully I can get some sleep so I'm not dead at work tomorrow.

Lil Duane, so sorry to here about your dad's stroke, but it sounds like some good has already come from this tragic event. Life is way to short to let things come between you and the one's you love. Stick by your dad and tell him how much you love him. Tell him his racing family is pulling for him & you to make a complete recovery.

my father was my best friend. the only time he came to the races he gets a speeding ticket getting there. won a Divison race and get home to a hand made banner on the garage door "welcome home champions" being young and even older I thought telling him I loved him was not a manly thing to do. I never did, now hes gone....he knew though. I live with now with painfully regretting that I never told him...best wishes duane & your father.
