Default Roadside Assistance

While on the subject of towing laws/rules, what, if any, are people using for RV Roadside Assistance? Are you guys using more than what your normal RV insurance covers?

My dad and I just purchased a Toterhome so I am curious what everyone is doing.

Thanks

I don't have Roadside, but Allstate, ( my carrier on the MHs) has a rider that looked pretty good. I am going to talk to my agent and make sure it would cover these conversions and how about tires. That seems to be where most of the trouble is.

Mike , we've had great luck with Good Sam's Platnium plan . Last year we thru a belt on my pusher with the stacker in tow on a Sat. afternoon they told us they'd be there within 90 min. they followed up with a call at 75 min to see if they arrived . A quality truck service changed our belt and got us going ASAP . NO CHARGE ! best $129. I ever spent . The Platinum covers roadside repaire rather than just towing I believe .

Mike, I have AAA plus RV and it more than paid for it self a month ago when my kid was driving the tail of the dragon in the smokey mountains when car had a stuck open fuel injector. the closest dealer was Knoxville TN. 70 miles away. It was flat bed towed to the dealer with zero out of pocket...check with AAA about towing the toter first...Luke SS 311

Thanks for the replies. I had looked into both AAA and Good Sams.

Glad to hear you guys have had good luck with the roadside assistance plans for both auto and RV.

I will do some more checking and make a decision soon.

Thanks!

We have had Good Sams for 9 years. Used it once. Coach "had an electrical event" on the interstate on a Saturday. Called Good Sams and Missouri Highway patrol. The troopers parked behind us with lights on for an hour, tow truck came and a dually (had to get coach and trailer) took us to a repair area and an independent repair shop guy came, gave me a great quote when he opened the panel and said "man this panel is FUBAR!!!!" he rewired 90% of the breaker panel box in the rain and when he said "start er up" about an hour later I thought he was kidding. Ran perfect for another two years and we traded it. Cost of the tow, repair and parts "COVERED", $1280.60.!!! (Plus a $100.00 tip to the tech who fixed it!!)
Good Sam is the best $129.00 a year you can spend for peace of mind and HELP when you need it in my experiences.

Good sam platinum plus. Covers any vehicle you own plus any vehicle you are driving. Family members driving your rig also. They will tow to the nearest qualified repair center or 100 miles max destination of your choice.

Just went with Good Sam Platinum Plus also due to the overwhelming recommendations from fellow racers and other RV friends. They have better coverage than any other I looked at. Jim
