One session of qualifying at Atlanta and straight into eliminations. Should DQs be allowed to run the event? In this case it looks like they are allowing them to run. What is your take on it?

Probably weight or fuel, so let e'm run. He gets no position advantage in the ladder, and he will get checked again if he wins.

If they don't get the scheduled amount of time runs, yes. If they get the scheduled amount of time runs, no.
Standard procedure. |

Agree with Toby 100%. Was only considering the issue in regards to the situation - only ONE run.

This situation happened last year at Vegas. I went to bed #1 qualifier with about 51 or some other odd amount of cars, and woke up # 1 with 53 (or 2 more anyway). Now had I taken a trigger and not got No 1, I probably would have been very vocal. Good weather all the way. There is some kind of screwball rule for putting people on the list, and it is designed for weather events, but it has been used to allow anyone who wants to get another day away from the track to simply get on the list without being there or going down the track to enter. Maybe we could get the official NHRA ruling on matters like this. I think we all understand weather happenings, but it should be limited to just that.

I wasn't there, but it looks like there was a cleanup run scheduled on Friday (like Thursday,) but they didn't get time to run it. So Mike added Brad Burton and Alan Hoefer to the ladder. Maybe Brad can comment on it. I don't know about you, but if I waited all day for a cleanup run that didn't happen and I didn't get on the ladder I might be a little upset. |

I agree with Mike. With the information we have it looks to be a technical infraction, so because there appear to be no Combo Class run-off's, it's right into the Eliminator tomorrow morning. He'll still have to meet weight and pass a fuel-check in order to advance anyway, so I see no problem.

They have changed that rule in the last few years. In the past if you showed up at a National event or a points race and did not make a legal run down the track ,you did not get on the ladder. Now you do.

If a race is scheduled to have four qualifying sessions and four qualifying sessions are run and you don't make a legal pass, you will not get on the ladder. Of course, it's the division director's call and he can still put you on the ladder if he wants to.
