Thanks to Mike Brogniez here's the lastest from the NHRA Napierville National Open presented by P C Richard & Son - As of early this morning it was still raining but 42 Stock/SS guys had already teched in and more were waiting and on the road .Most of the day was spent by racers hiding from the weather as the bad stuff continued all day thru this afternoon . Not a car went down the track as of late this afternoon but they were hopeful . But quite a few golf carts did made it down the quarter mile I'm told .
In attendance were John Armstrong - the defending champ along with other maritimers such as Fred Thibeault & co. Other locals included the Cantucci's , Sean Gaffney , Guy Desjardin , Yves Perginy, Francois Periard , Mat Beauilt , Michel Cote , and Yannik Cote . The ASRA have a big showing with Dave Casey , Adam Strang , Marc LaBrecque , Mark Markow and others came with more coming - guess they're looking for a winner within their association . Hopefully tomorrow will be better - I'm not sure if I can get results but I'll pass along what I can ............

Looks like they may be dodging the last bullets of rain. Talked to Casey last night and he said they'll run it Monday if needed. Hopefully they can get in all in today.

Big miracle - even with rain today Bob Lang and his small group of D1 guys managed to get this race in tonight .By 7pm tonight they ran the final with 42 racers showing up for first round earlier . The winner -- Jacques Blais with his sharp GT/EA Mustang along with the runner-up being Louis Gill driving the Perigny / LaFontaines owned '69 Camaro convertible . The final was - get this - a double red-light affair -006 and -007 -this should spark the first / worse red light debate again .
Thanks again to Gary Richard / PC Richard & Son who again sponsored this event that many are looking forward to next year already . Also thanks go out to track owner Ronald Brunet & family who I'm told were wonderful hosts all weekend .

Mother nature threw more showers and rain on Napierville Dragway this weekend than anyone should have to endure. One person was quoted as saying that they hadn't used up any tires or fuel, but their winch was toast after winching their race car in and out countless times. Saturday it would rain, almost dry and then rain again, that happened 4 or 5 times.
The track, D1, and the sponsors of this event really deserved better, but they hung in there and we had 2 time trials today(sunday) and then went right in eliminations. Track was good, there was a tail wind. With 8 cars left for the 2nd TT, it rained and soaked things good. an hour or so later they were back running. I thought that the car count was good considering the weather. Border crossing was no problem. Do yourself a favor and get your passport, traveling north of the border is no big deal. Thanks to the sponsors, and hosts for doing more with less this weekend and a big congrats to Jacques Blais for a big win.

A big congrats to Jaque Blais ! Winning the big one in his motherland . Seems like the trick to going rounds is to retire . I've noticed it's working well for you and Al Mark

One of the neatest things that I saw this weekend was the winner circle photo and excitement of the Father and 3 kids after they won the golf cart race Saturday. The track had a trophy for them and I believe that all 4 rode the cart in the event. Man those kids were happy, jumping around, it was great to see youth and excitement, looked happier than any lottery winner.
I lost and left early, so I missed Jacques' win, I'll bet there was excitement and smiles there too. Congrats to all the winners
