I am looking for a mirror for my door car, so I can see those dragsters coming. I was thinking about one of the wraparound panoramic wide angle ones from JC Whitney any suggestions on what works?
Thanks, Glenn |

If you ain't at least matching the reaction time of the driver of that dragster in the other lane, won't matter what mirror you've got in your car most times.
Besides, you should have your head spun around like Linda Blair once you're in high gear watching that dragster's closing rate. Last edited by 1320racer; 01-27-2011 at 09:22 PM. |

I agree with 1320. Get you RT right and knowing you dial in are the most important things. Most times, that gets you right even against the dragsters. I put a fair share of them on the trailers just working it that way. Top side games (knowledge ) is always good to know. I use the old stock rear view mirror in my Nova and it work just fine on closing rates. However in some door cars spinning your head around to get a good look is not always possible depending on how you are strapped in, helmut view, and obstructions ect. Do what is best for you. I know guys who just use a side spot mirror like the Nascar boys. Good luck, and don't be intimidated by them. Race your race.

Hey Glenn.. all kidding aside.. I drive and crew on some top Comp Eliminator teams, where mirrors are a necessity on the slower cars.. I would check out the mirrors that you can get through Biondo Racing Products.. they will hook you up..

The JC Whitney mirror is exactly the one Al Vanis used when he won the Englishtown national event in 2003, running in N/SA- in other words, almost always being chased.
A curved mirror definitely helps prevent losing a chaser in your blind spot, or taking too much stripe when the chaser isn't going to be close.
