It's a B-E-A-utiful day in the Tar Heel State! Overcast, heat index somewhere over !00, but the SUN is out! I'm on site early (as usual - 30+ years of the Army does that!), but not a bad thing as I can watch the racers arrive.
I'll try to get some good photo's to share - My thanks to Danny Waters, Sr. for inviting me down to enjoy some Southern Hospitality! OBTW - Wheelstander here too!!! ![]() ![]() Lew (Yankee by birth - Southerner by the grace of G-D!)

Time trials starting in about a half-an-hour. Just enough clouds to keep the sun from melting everything! Looks to be a GREAT day for racing!!

Finals from Kinston -
Greg Rowe defeats Brian Rowe for the Combo Crown! An absolutely wonderful day of racing here at KDS! I can't say enough about the crew here! They were fantastic- almost 100 degrees with a track temperature of 140 (!), but the traction was amazing! Many thanks again to my hosts, Danny Waters, Sr and Jr, for an excellent day of racing. Now I need to go home and finish my station wagon!!! ![]() Lew

Lew,
Thanks for the pics and the updates. Would have loved to been there but I don't think I could have stood the heat. Bob Rice |

Bob,
It was unbelievably hot today at KDS. I'm sure that may have kept a lot of folks away. No rain though, at least not until the show was over and people were headed home. I heard that there may some Friday Night shows later in the summer. I'll have more pictures posted later. I have to filter through over 300 of them! Lew

Nice meeting you Lew, HOT it was. One round it was 100 degrees and track temp was 147. My car did perfect 60ft and 330 moved only 7 thou all day . Every car here hooked and NO COMPLAINTS (except for the heat lol) Had a great time as usual. We may have to put up a bounty on them Rowe boys .They have been in the finals at every combo we have had this year (including their dad , Bud ).14 cars is what we had and i am surprised ,since it was so HOT. I want to thank each and everyone who did come for the race. It is the hardcore racers like you guys that helps these combos survive. When Lew posts more pics you will see we had a good quality of cars on hand. I can't say THANK YOU enough.I went to Roxboro on Sat nite for their combo race( 18 cars) and had a ball there also. The rain came and cut out a time run ,so we got one run and went racing. Gil (homer ) Carty was your winner over Brandon Peterson. Sorry about your engine. And you are welcome on the battery loan,at least part of my car made it to the finals lol. Hope to see more of you guys and gals in our futere combo events at both Roxboro and Kinston.Stay cool . Oh, did i mention it was HOT yesterday ?????
