Smile Going to Florida-Need an overlength permit?

Let me help the process. Go to FLDOT, search Permits, Click Blanket Permit, Download Form. Configuration is #4; add race cars in blank space. Fill in all the deimensions. You have no overhang. Put zeros there. On Overall Length don't go over 79 ft as the price goes from $20 to $330. Put in your # of axles, and your approximate weight. I don't think it matters on the weight unless you are over 80K, Skip the section on cranes, on axle spacings, axle weights fill out your contact information. They seem to like faxes. Fax it in and they will promptly send you a return fax that it is approved asking for credit card info. I made so many errors, I am now on a first name basis with half the FLDOT people (who were very helpful). This is good for one year.

Default Fla DOT

On my way to Bradenton this week I pulled into a rest area north of Tampa for the night.
I pulled around the back side and there were 10 DOT officers and 4 State troopers going through a Tractor Trailer, the only open space was 2 spaces from where they were. So I pulled in and Parked jumped out to walk my little dog and never got a second look, I was just waiting for a question and to show my permit from Fl DOT. Maybe I'm not obvious with the MH and Trailer. I'm at 67 ft total.
They hung around after they let the Big Truck go and all were just 15 ft away and just all left at the same time.
I'm still glad I have the permit.
