acid porting a bbc 781 head

GUYS can some one tell me if its worth doing and why ?
Im building a gt motor with a BBC 781 O port head and they have 15hrs of hand porting done to them " buy a pro" is it still worth the money to send them out for acid porting ? who to use and who not to use?

I agree last set of heads I did full port to took 40+hrs a week for over 3 weeks. And Im pretty good....albeit slow, but man did they flow, they were on the chev 302 I was spinning at 10k...

Great heads, but they werent cheap, as in the trip to the doctor for the metal dust that had embedded in my lenses , superfine and in my hair, then into my eyes, the actual pain was from the metal slicing the insides of my eyelids, Now wear a hat when porting But I kinda like the fact you CANT in stock elim, its something I dont have to do.........Its REALLY hard to sit still when the doc comes at your eye with a magnetic needles and says "Hold Real Still" before explaining what he was going to do......he was in a hurry had a "hot lunch date" hey at least he was honest.....

The only reason to use acid is to cover up any grinding that has been done on the head's . If you are building a motor for a GT class in Super Stock it is legal to port the head's so there is no reason to use acid . 15 hour's of hand porting doe's not even seem like a good start maybe 150 hour's would be more like it . That's why good head's are so expensive . If you are from Division 1 talk to John Armstrong or Tom Boucher or sombody like that they will steer you in the right direction .

Porting is legal in Super Stock. Check out the 2010 rule book if you don't believe this section ten page two. " Porting, polishing, welding, epoxying and acid porting permitted". So I don't see the problem asking about Acid Porting!!!!

To those giving him crap, NICE attitude. It makes this site not very inviting nor class racing to others when people are treated this way. To those jack hole class racers out there, do you ever wonder why people think class racers are considered jerks???

When class racers say you're not bracket racers YOU ARE RIGHT, as bracket racers are a nicer bunch and more inviting to be around.

Now either answer the guys gosh damn question or don't reply if you can't help.

Guys I am sorry sorry and sorry . first I thought it was legal in ss/gt AS THE RULES STATE , guess i was wrong 2nd I will NOT change my drag racing nick name .I WILL ONLY CHANGE IT on the computer for I have been called the shoe just like Jimbo since 1990 and as soon as I find out how to change it I will. Guys dont think Im taking someones nick name to upset any one . "sorry "Im new to this sight not new to drag racing.

Hey Anthony, you shouldn't have to apologize. These guys ripping you should apologize!!!! New blood, old blood, web newbie, or whatever, people need to chill and choose better battles. Manny you hit it on the head, when class racers bash someone over something stupid, they prove yet again they don't want the sport to live.

And who's cheating here anyway? Besides the acid heads with modified part numbers, battery with disguised hose bib and drain, and lightweight doors that hold nitrous bottles, my car is perfectly legal!!
