Thumbs up I Wittnessed A Random Act Of Sportsmanship

It was the first round of Stock at the Div.2 race in Atlanta on Sunday. Chris Puzyci and Doug Patrick were behind the water box under the tower waiting for the starter to motion them forward to do their burnout. Both guys went to start their cars but Puzyci's starter would not engage. He tried several times but no luck. This is the kind of thing we all have nightmares about! David Payne was standing next to my car with his clipboard in hand, he put the clipboard down and rushed over to Chris's car and began to rock the car back and forth. BOOM! The car started and the race was on!

This is what it's all about people! David, Butch and their Dad Randy are all first class people! My hat and I know Chris's hat is off to David Payne. Thank you Randy (Mr Bigg Stuff) Payne for raising your boys to do the right thing! Jim

It doesn't suprise me to read this about a member of the Payne family. They are "class act" people for sure.

Not to take away for the original intent of this post, but I have found that this seems to be what you will find with 99% of the sportsman class racers out there (stock, super stock and .90 racers). I was talking with Tom "the Old Man" Ward a few years ago about different people we both had met through racing, and I told him the ones I had met were some of the very best friends I've ever known. These were people you could count on being there for you if you were in trouble at 3 A.M. and called them. Even Dan Moore could be included in this group.

Hey Dan Moore, you're #1.

RIP Mark Graham

As long as I have been in Drag racing (since 1964) I have always seen fellow racers help each other even if they were competitors. In this we are different from other racing associations.

I've seen guys loan carbs, tires, fuel, help with engine changes, etc.

We ARE the epitome of racers.

Thanks to all of you that care about fellow racers.
