Default Any interest in no t-stop index racing?

There are a few individual tracks as well as some smaller regional series that run some heads-up index, no throttle stop racing. (stops allowed, but must be stationary through entire run, no timers, etc.) The PTRA runs 1/8th mile 5.30, 6.0 and 7.0 classes in the Carolinas.

Any interest in this type of racing elsewhere in the country, and if so, what indexes would make the most sense for 1/4 mile racing?

Thanks for your input,

I know that Englishtown, Maple Grove & Cecil County have no electronics index racing. Not sure about the specifics of E-town or Maple Grove, but Cecil has an 8.50-7.50 Index class for door cars. They also have a 10.00 & 12.00 class. I know the 10.00 & 12.00 class your required to have DOT tires mufflers, full interiors and full frame or back halved cars, so as to appear more street looking than full out racecars.

It would be interesting to see what the turnout would be for an index class geared more towards race appearing (ie. no electronics class cars) in maybe the 10.00, 10.50, 9.50 indexes.

US 41(Indiana) has a heads up 10.00 class with no electronics that's gaining popularity. Nothing would make me happier than to race supercomp with out electroncis or electronic/pneumatic throttle stops. But Idon't forsee that ever changing.

I would love to see 9.50-10.00-10.50 classes, and even an 11.00

I think I-57 in Benton, IL has some semi regular index races like that.. They are a little 1/8th track in southern IL. Im not sure what the exact classes are, but i know they have a 8.00 class that i thought about running with my footbrake car, and sever other faster indexes.

out west, they run two different series at famoso (bakersfield) with heads up no electrics style racing. D/GAS (10.60) seems to be where I am heading with these guys.

That would be 8.40, 9.50 and 11.0 according to Wallace Calculators. I was thinking 8.90, 9.90, and 10.90 just like the super classes, just don't use the tstops. I was thinking of the 8.90 becasue there is a lot of money and chassis from a 8.40 to a 8.90 car. You would not want it to be below 8.50 to keep costs down.

At Gateway in Missouri we have heads up classes called Gateway outlaw all stars. I believe it's 13.00, 12.00 , 11.00, 10.00, 9.00 on a 5 tenth Pro Tree. I run S/ST and slowing down with weight and timing. So this is familiar with me. With a stick you can't throttle stop or run a delay box. I guess you can set up a delay box but I don't want one. So I run S/ST with no electrionics and no throttle stop. Makes you work harder and it's a blast.
