Default NHRA and Generators

Do you need an above the trailer exhaust for ALL generators or does this only apply to RV installed generators. Does the rule apply to portable generators?

No rule book handy to verify

Thanks
Manny

"All generators, air compressors, etc. that are powered by an internal combustion engine must have the exhaust directed up and above the top of the trailer, truck, RV, tent/awning, etc. and clear of other people's pits" is the wording in the rulebook.

Not positive on this but I believe it does not apply to portable gens. Only perm. mounted units, not sure if I read that in DRAGSTER or the rule book but do recall reading it. best bet is to call Div. office, this is what these people are paid for ....to answer our questions. Joe

Dick, that's actually one I do agree with, at alot of tracks this is not an issue however some are pretty dark. It really can't hurt to be LIT up after dark, this could actually prevent an accident from happening. The gen exhaust thing in my experience has always been an act of consideration, mine is very quiet We sleep within a fwe feet of it however I always seem to get pitted next to the guy with the Industrial 10k unit that wants to run it all nite.
