Just wondering if ya'll (that's a southern word Lynn) had some imformation on where to set the timers on the car. 3100 # 72 Camaro. 482 cid. 9 teens flat out. Switching to time from rpm after attending Atlanta divisional and watching my dad just about put the car in the fence when coming off the stop. Any info appreciated.

Are you coming off the stop still in 1st gear? Definately want to **** while on the stop. I go on the stop at .1 seconds, and shift at .5.

We found it better to shift after the 60ft. For example if your 60ft is 1.700 then set shift timer at 1.80 or 1.85 that gives you some room if your on a greasy track. My father in laws car weighs 3000 lbs and when we shifted real early before the 60 the car was real unpredictable. We think that the weight of the car made it vulnerable to different track and weather conditions especially when there was wind. So we started shifting after the 60 letting the car accelerate in first gear then shift. Since that change that car has been very consistant. Hope this helps and good luck!

Stop comes on at .02 Shift at .40 Stop RPM 4100 Coming off the stop in high gear calms the car down.
A under carb stop is more consistant than a linkage stop |

Does everyone set their stops for the maximum closure (slowing down as much as possible)? I know one friend who did not, but I figured everyone else did.
Regards,
