Can someone please explain how the 427 Fairlane Thunderbolts can possibly be legal for stock eliminator? The cars were too light for A/S from the begining and if I read the rule book correctly too few were made. Im confused

Weight break in the guide is 7.63 which is AA/S and weight can be added to drop down a class.
As for eligability, at least 50 were made

Wasn't that part of the reason AA/S was created...to find a home for cars like these?
I'm not a Ford guy, but always thought the Thunderbolts were cool. I remember Dallas Kelly putting his together; heard he's crankin' it up again for Top SS Last edited by Don Whitmore; 04-04-2008 at 06:29 PM. |

Do you know if he's still working with Ray Smith and do they still have the '67 (?) Fairlane? Like many racers did back then, the Fairlane was purchased new and the only highway miles it ever saw was the trip home from the dealership. I remember seeing the odometer and it had 27 miles on it. |

Don, I Think the 67 is sold. Not sure... I will ask next time we talk. He is really "up" redoing the car. Thats what its all about. Being totally committed and excited to see each piece be delivered and completed. He is personally in the middle of the construction and machine work. The finished car will be a reward for the fun of getting there... Paul Adams T-Bolt is about ready with some glitchs solved also...I am hoping Paul will be at Bowling Green....
