"He said he believes John Deere sees Mexico as a cheap source of labor with the added benefit that it can import steel there for much cheaper and sell products built with that steel back to the American market". We were lucky we were in the food processing industry. Breakfast Cereal. The filth that Mexico has in its facility's was not acceptable, no matter what the cost advantage. https://www.thedailyscoop.com/news/r...we-know-so-far

The article I read was 2 hours old. John Deere is laying off and moving some production to Mexico. Also noted that Deere and Ford wanted similar moves to Mexico 4 years ago. Trump talked them out of the moves. Biden hasn't tried to stop the. Also, typical bantering...."Deere is Greed" stuff. Unfortunate that more people do not understand capitalism.

Having subjected to this business decision with GE Engine Services in 1999. Our cost of labor was $70 per hour with customer cost $90, giving GE $20 profit. Our sister plants in Brazil labor $25 per hour and Scotland was $45. GE made a decision to layoff 400 plus employees and move the plant to China where cost of labor was $15 per hour. Cost to customer remained $90, now that is capitalism at its best. It all worked out for me, found employment within days. I did keep my GE stock and it split.
