They need to start a MEDIA PUSH as I've seen nothing on TV news or newspapers about the track in the DFW area.It needs to get PUMPED UP !! Drag Racing is kind of the "redheaded stepchild" of auto racing anyway! If it was anything concerning NASCAR it'd be all over the news.SAD BUT TRUE !! If I didn't frequent this forum and others I wouldn't know about this track or race.BUT.....IHRA is growing in TEXAS and with Caddo Mills,Abilene,Amarillo and others it should grow more.
I sure hope the weather gives them a break next weekend !!

Have you contacted them, or IHRA, or Dallas Raceway?

I'm not in the media........have no need to.
i'm just worried that if this track doesn't draw people it will flounder and close down. And that's the last thing I want to happen !
The media isn't HIP on dragracing and tend to ignore it in the DFW area. BUT if it's NASCAR or the Cowboys they are all over it !! Almost any day of the year there's an article on Romo or the Cowboys in the paper or on TV news Drag Racing has to JUN|MP in their face and SCREAM to get noticed !
I'd like to see them drag some sports reporter from the DFW TV stations and put them in cars for a bracket race ! Maybe a double header in one day with some "name" drivers coaching ! I'd like to see the stands packed next weekend by FIRST time spectators and get them HOOKED !

I was looking at the Dallas Raceway website and the rules for the ET class are different than Tulsa. Tulsa is allowing you to run same car in ET and sportsman, but Dallas is not from what I understand.

---/quote/--- from Dalls website

This year, we need to pre-register a total of 64 cars by May 23rd, 2009 in order to have the ET race at the National event. The 64 cars needed includes both Box and No Box entries. If we fail to pre-register the 64 cars needed by the deadline, the ET Race will be excluded from the Amalie Longhorn Nationals and your money will be refunded.

Don't forget, this year you can enter both in the ET Race and in a Sportsman Class as long as you have a different car to run in each class. Cost for the ET Race is $190 per entry and you must be an IHRA member.

Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions or comments regarding the pre-registration process.

Details:

$2,000.00 Win
$1,000.00 RU
+ contingency

ET Class - Box (0-12.99) / No-Box (9.00-19.99)
Final Box vs No-Box for winner/runner-up money and contingencies.
Each winner receives an Iron Man!
Lane choice is determined by lane you pull in.
Odd number lanes = left lane, even number lanes = right lane.
If only one lane of cars left, first car in pair gets choice.
Laddered at 8 or less.
Laddered cars determine lane choice among themselves.
Bye Runs - 1st round determined by best RT from qualifying.
All others from previous round until laddered.
Byes do not carry over.

This year we need to pre-register a total of 64 cars by May 31st, 2009 in order to have the ET race at the National event. The 64 cars needed includes both Box and No Box entries. If we fail to pre-register the 64 cars needed by the deadline, the ET Race will be excluded from the Sooner Nationals and your money will be refunded.

1- The Purse below is what we'll use for the ET Race
Box - $2,000 to Win, $1,000 R/U, $50 per round starting with 2nd rd losers
No Box - $1,500 to Win, $750 R/U, $50 per round starting with 2nd rd losers
2- Both the Box and No Box Winner will get an Ironman
3- Motorcycles will be allowed to run in the Box Class
4- Entry is $190 per class and $150 for each additional class
5- "Joe Racer" will be allowed to run the same car in both the ET Class and a Sportsman Class

Now.... NO MORE EXCUSES... Get your rear in gear and get signed up for the Sooner Nationals ET Class.

Don't know if it mattered to anyone, but wanted to make sure I was right. At Tulsa you could have extra runs to get your car running the number ifyou were running a .90 car.

Cool Re: IHRA Nitro Jam Crandall,TEXAS

I have to defend the Texas Motorplex and the comment on all the crashes there. Having run at that track since it opened and seen a BUNCH of crashes there including a couple of fatalities I can tell you that other than the case where something on the car broke they were ALL caused by people driving over their heads and or doing something stupid! Blaming that track is just a pretty lame excuse for some bad driving in every instance I witnessed.
