Jim R,,,
Like you said,,,,,,,,Street-race a Max-Wedge,,,,,,,,,,, ![]() Bill was classed in S/SA in early 64', and then into AA/SA later that year. His car was street-driven,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ![]() Luckily, his was a steel-nosed, Ram-Air car. Engine was left alone, He just added headers and tricked up the torque-flite a bit, re-curved the distributor. With 4.56 gears,,,,,,,,,,12.30's He did have the car lettered with a local Newburgh, New York Dodge Dealership. But the dealer made him take off the name,,,,,,,,,,,,'insurance reasons'. pc Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 06-21-2011 at 03:01 PM. |

Moose,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you are the MAN,,,,,,,
![]() That's the ONE,,,,,,,,,," Mayflower V" And on 7' slicks and, Jardine Headers with only 3" collectors. Hank Taylor's father was 'very wealthy', and purchased new Super/Stockers for his son. Also, a 64' Plymouth Belvedere hardtop (next to the 'Mayflower V' car. And a 65' Plymouth Belvedere 'Race Hemi' S/SA car in December 1964. Both the 64' and 65' cars were 'Southern Killers'. pc Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 06-21-2011 at 06:08 PM. |

JT,
I'm not sure who's record Bud Faubel broke in May 1964. He ran an 11.53. I'm not sure if one of the Melrose Missle cars had the S/SA record at that time. Charlie Di Bari (sic) was the one running the automatics. The 63' and 64" Max-Wedge Automatics were stuck around 11.90's or so. pc Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 06-21-2011 at 07:18 PM. |

Maybe some of you will remember some of these names and their 1964 Hemi Dodge's seen here at U.S 30 drag strip. Notice there isn't any 1964 Hemi Plymouth's in this shot.

Here's a rare one of a 1964 Dodge hardtop with either a Race Hemi or a Max Wedge.
