Default Live from charlotte.....

It rained off and on yesterday evening and most of the nite.
The rain held off all day today (except for one quick drizzle) and SS'ers got in all 4 sessions before 6pm.
Yes... that's right.... I said "4" sessions.
When is the last time you got 4 time trials at a national event all in one day?
I've got some pics to share and I'll post tonite as soon as I get a better connection.....

Here are a few pics of the first cars (SS'ers) to go down the track (taken from the staging lanes).....

4 lanes and we are only using the left two lanes this weekend..... looks like the right side lanes are still unused.

Part of the idea behind having 2 more lanes was in case of a major oil down they could move over and keep running while the cleanup was done on the other two. This was to help get an actual "LIVE" TV drag race too.

Im heading to the track here in a few minutes.

Great PICS Tom. Is anyone suprised that the car count was not higher? I figured there would be a full field in that part of the country.

Tom,
Great pictures as usual. Good luck with the race and enjoy yourself this weekend. With the price of gasoline skyrocketing this morning, it may be the last one anyone can afford to go to.

I believe Indy wears a lot of racers down plus must rule out Div 4 racers because of the divisional race.

Julie.........

The facility is top shelf...........but............
it has it's bugs that need worked out ..... and I'm sure it'll get better.

examples...... a lady parked next to us said that she got stuck in one of the new bathroom stalls (under the bleachers). It seems like they painted the new stalls and the lock on the door stuck because of the fresh paint. She had to crawl out under the door to get out. It could have been an ugly situation. My mother found a similar situation in another stall but had been pre-warned.

also..... The bleachers on the sportsman side of the track (east-side) were off limits to spectators except for the 4 sections nearest the start line. This would have been nice... except... that we were pitted on the end of the bleachers where we were not allowed to sit. It made no sense at all. You had to walk all tthe way to the start line bleachers to sit and watch.
Security guards chased out all spectators from the seats all day long (until about 3pm or so).
I have no idea why this happened.

Pros, alcohol, and comp are on the left side of the track.
We (ss, sg, sc) are pitted on right side of track. With the amount of rain we had yesterday, the dirt and rocks we parked on held up just fine.

I'd give the facility a strong 8 out of 10.
