Funny you should mention that. I had pretty much the same thought a couple of hours ago while sitting at a traffic light. I watched a car 99% bust a red light, then remembered that my state has a useless law regarding that.


So then I started to think about where I read about that law. And by doing that, 2020 came into focus.


It hasn't been all THAT long ago that you could trust whatever you read in a newspaper or magazine and didn't have to check 2 or 3 other places to find out if the statement was correct or just bs.


At the time I read it, it wasn't a source like the National Enquirer and it never entered my mind I needed to verify what was written. Sadly, not anymore. Now, it's like the X-Files come to life: trust no one.

OK updates on my situation---the following phone numbers have been sending me TEXT messages to buy the items I have for sale on Racing Junk---ALL APPEAR to be from the same person/persons ALL using the same scam Ill send you a check for over the amount of the purchase "keep the extra for your efforts" and pay the shipper when he gets there ---NOT POSITIVE BUT IF THESE NUMBERS ARE LEGITIMATE BUYERS I APOLOGIZE-

first 3 numbers same scenario send check, refund part of it to shipper when they shows up "yada yada yada"-- tried calling back and it is answers 'text message subscriber" so I believe that these are definitely scams--- 205 number waiting for PayPal today or if buyer returns my call from this AM

I will chime in hear, placed 2 ads on racingjunk only got 3 people that were legit and messaged me through pm on racingjunk. All others were scams blew up my phone for 2 weeks quit even thinking any body responding was legit. It is sad for Racingjunk that they have this bad repetition now with me. At the beginning just ask a simple question, you will know if its a scam by there response.

James --I got multiple responses from both ads ---3-4 of each were legit the others were the typical scam ill mail u a check cash it send some money to ??? and a shipper will pick up the item and the check in a few weeks will eventually be no good----been there done that before---Thanks for your insight yes sad that not only RJ but many other websites have gotten this way--Dickl

FED really I take those messages with a grain of salt and I pretty much gave up on Craigslist, that has been the worst in my experience. I seem to do much better on Facebook Marketplace and try to keep the sales local except if the item I'm selling appeals to just a small market but it can be frustrating even dealing locally.
