That's the way it was. We tickled our record a few thousands (1967?) and you wouldn't believe the flack we received so nobody was very anxious to make the system work. Got even worse when the manufacturers introduced net horsepower ratings.

Seems like NHRA gives them out these days to just about everybody anyway. Used to be a big deal to have one or two on your mantle. Not anymore.
