Re: VP and Sunoco
Careful transporting fuel ... I believe over 15 gallons (inc fuel cell) requires DOT placard and DOT rules ...

I picked up two 55 gallon drums of fuel a few months ago for some friends. I was told this was totally legal, AND, I could have taken two more drum of Alky to go along with that race fuel since they have different numbers on the tag indicating what was in the drum. I was told there is a weight limit, not a gallon limit. Also was told I could legally transport up to 900 pounds of radioactive materials without a permit........... But like most things, when the State and Federal Government gets involved, things get messed-up! Some states require a CDL for our tow rigs, others don't. Would be nice to have common laws across the country, but that will never happen. |

Re: VP and Sunoco
My toter holds 100 gallons of fuel so I doubt they would care about 15 gallons of gasoline. I do haul it in the VP 5 gallon steel containers. I also have a 25 gallon gas tank for the generator in the trailer, Sometimes I carry a couple of 5 gallon containers of Non Ethanol gas for the golf cart and the small suitcase generator.

Re: VP and Sunoco
Everything I have ever found says that placarding is not required if the total weight of the fuel is under 440 lbs and packaged in containers less than 8 gallons.

Re: VP and Sunoco
I ordered this fuel locally and it took over 2 months to show up. VP C10 is easier to get at least here.

Re: VP and Sunoco
CFR49 states that hazardous materials placards applies to shipping companies and drivers hauling commerce. It does not apply to private individuals.
