No, must be approved design. See the NHRA accepted parts list for ones that NHRA has approved.

Prixmo---- you can use bolts/tabs/springs if you WANT to but you MUST use either a 1/2inch stitch welds/NHRA approved tethers/some type of device to bolt the collector to the body---I gaurantee you, you show up without a welded/tethered/or hanger bolted to the body collector you're gonna get bounced

You are wrong about your if you WANT to use bolt/spring/etc because that is the primary attachment. and that is required. Here is the rule.

"Secure the collectors/stacks with an NHRA-accepted header tether.

· Secure the collectors/stacks with a minimum ½” (half-inch) stitch weld located on each primary tube.

· Secure the collectors/stacks by permanently attaching them to the vehicle body or frame with positive fasteners such that they require tools for removal.
Please keep in mind that the attachment methods listed above are meant to be a secondary method of attachment. All factory attachments, such as springs and/or bolts, must remain in place."

Now slowly reread what both of us said, you need to use the original coupling devices (bolts/springs) and one of the 3 now approved tethering methods. Neither of us said you don't need one of the 3 approved tether methods.

OK getting clearer....clear as mud.C and W racing, OK thanks maybe not considering the tabs and fasteners is where I was getting hung up...I will address this on my car before the first race. Suppose I've got a bit before I have to make a move. Merely the fact that there seems to be so many different interpretations of that 1 paragraph would indicate 1 english may not be everyones first language or...and I'm leaning this way, they could have done a better job on the "clarification". I guess I am missing something, in the first part it is stated they must be securely fastened with bolts so IS my OEM tab/bolted connection good or not?

Excellent question...I've wondered since they state half in stitch welds (but doesn't state welding collector to primary tubes) why doesn't a tab on each tube using fasteners qualify. You still have the minimum weld area and you're still using fasteners and it still requires "tools" to remove. Think I'll wait this out as long as possible and see what the FINAL decision is.

NHRA needs to hire a technical writer that a) knows what they are writing about, b) English is their first language, because that rule revision is very poorly worded
