Let us not forget the 1963 Pontiac station wagon of Jack Mullins from Helena, Arkansas. Jack's SS/U 4-speed wagon was the thorn in NHRA's side when they switched over to index racing with no breakout in the mid-70's. That type racing only lasted 2 years thanks to racers like Jack. He knew how to play the game and only ran fast enough to keep ahead of his index. Finally NHRA gave up, changed back to a breakout and Stock/SS racing was saved from extinction.

Mike Boyles " Good ole Charlie Brown" 57 Chevy The End. The "Class of 65" wagon now campaigned by the Koopmans is a pretty darn cool stocker but Boyles car has been so active for so long it's hard to not give it the nod. Boyles even ran the 11.90 class during the Billy Myers IHRA era. Come on Rev! Get the 65 back out!!!

In today's sportsman racing, it would have been Super Stock. Back then, it was Modified -- the only Wagon I know of, which won multiple world championships in the class. Gene Fulton's white wagon.
