Hey Tom,
I'm curious too as to why the 85 Camaro 305 (175/245) took a hit. I'm about the only driver in IHRA still running it, and I'm not rotating the world! I usually qualify within 10 positions of the bottom. However, NHRA did hp this combination a couple of years ago, so I guess IHRA is following the standard. We will get the calculator out and add to the weight box.

I THINK THAT THE STOCK AND SUPER STOCK COMBOS THAT ARE RUNNING OVER 1.00 UNDER IN THE THE EIGHT MILE SHOULD BE LOOKED AT FOR A HP ADJUSTMENT,SOME COMBOS KEEP GETING FASTER AND THEIR HP OR THEIR INDEX NEVER CHANGES

>> all ford 1969 428-335 (375-10 to 365) in any NON ram air application

I brought this up last year... here's another example of a combination being factored differently depending on whether or not it has a fresh air system. Wouldn't it be fair and reasonable to knock 5HP off of crate motor cars that do not have a functional hood scoop?

Because there already a soft factor now? That would be my guess...

Mike,
I think they should let all Crate Motor cars run hood scoops of the era of production. The 5 HP reduction would also be good. one or the other.

I have no problem with the look of the stock flat hood. But if traditional stockers are factored based on whether or not they have a fresh air system, then that should apply to crate motors as well.

As for crate motors being under-factored, that's a separate topic. I'm not particularly concerned with that one way or another -- I'm just talking about crate motors vs crate motors.

No problem Chris, I sure when your father ask for IHRA to look at the hp on non-ram air 428CJ he thought they would take it off all the Fords not just the Cougar.
I want to Thank Mr. Baker and IHRA for there understanding of my request and changing of the HP rating for all non-ram air 428CJ.

Plus those Stock-GT classes are way under rated as well!!!!!!!!

!201stk - we assumed that they would give all non-ram air the same break.....we have trying for years to get them to approve the 850 Holley and the aluminum intake that came on our Mexican cougar....but they dont seem to be biting on that one........maybe next year!
