I like the tear down before record run that way if there is something slightly wrong you can correct and make it legal,seal it, then set your record.

It does make sense, but what if you pass tear down but then can't run fast enough to set the record? That would be irritating.

Then they seal the motor and it's good for the rest of the year! You can go to another event and set the record with a sealed motor and no tear down. IHRA has a policy that allows you to tear down at the beginning of the year and be sealed and your good for the rest of the year. That is what I did this year and set the record twice. No tear down at the track! Makes it muck more enjoyable. Jim
