James,
At least 10 racers had them on at Indy in 2005. Bruce told me mine was fine and that he had no problem with it. I ran that same base for 3 more years and went through tear down at Indy in 2008 with the very same crew that is now trying to outlaw its use. This isn't a tech issue. It is a nhra issue. Glad I'm out of this mess.

Ran the stock A/C assembly because of a hoop scoop, but always thought that OEM would mean what came on the car with that silly little tube with the exhaust stove top warmer snorkel assembly on most cars. I know nearly everyone runs either the flat open base or flat base with open element style. One of my guests yesterday was shocked upon seeing the 6" (?) dia. pipe and element on a new Cobra Jet. Can anyone really runs 10's thru a 4 square inch hole? Guessing whatever they allow is ok as long as it gets "factored" into the equation... Last edited by Bobby DiDomenico; 06-04-2010 at 12:49 PM. |

Are you running just the base? Or the base and air cleaner?

Tech was looking for air cleaner baseplates and stock seats at Brainerd last week. I guess this is an effort to move the class back to "stock", whatever that is.
