Wade,

Absolutley love your idea. Only the above statement stops me. Not the legal part but having "to compete" in N/IHRA events. The car I'm trying to cobble together, we have little intention of running either national or divisional events. I mainly just want to put a car together to run the S/SS combo events here in the midwest area (Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois). Since it will be a crate motor car, we can't run NHRA events at all.

I am building the car with rulebook in hand. If we chose to attend an IHRA national or divisional, I will be legal. Truthfully, running the combos seems a whole lot more fun than messing with the national scene.

Just my take on it.

Wade, The only money the track gets is the gate fee coming in , All else is 100% payout. We have more tracks that want us than races to offer. That is a good problem to have ( i think ) LOL.

Jim, that sounds good to me, can you race year round? And the down side is what? You can still race Gainsville, Orlando, Bradenton, Palm Beach, and Central Fla. (new track I'm hearing). You've got Daytona, PRI, and plenty of street Hot Rodding. You got it all, and good for you Jim

Dollar for dollar value I think the stock and S/S circuits are by far the best deal today. One day race unless they have a double. The entry fee vs the win money is good. The fun factor is high. Same guys and girls you wold race at a national event or points race except those who live far away. No BS or hassels. You are treatred like a human being. No AHFS. The only negative would be no heads up races but to some that could be a good thing. Who cares if you dont get your picture or name in National RAGster if you win. Great people (those running the circuit) to race with. Just my 2 1/2 cents.
P.S. and NO alcahol funny cars or dragsters to oil down the track.

Does anyone know for sure. Do you need to be an NHRA member and have competition number to run Combo's at say Ohio Valley or Bowling Green?
Hoping maybe to save a little money and not have to put up with the BS.

Why do I spend my money with NHRA? I don't!!! For over a year and a half I haven't given nhra a single penny. No national events fee's, no membership fee's, no competition number fee's, no increased fee's, no whatever fee's. Will I spend some of my money with nhra in the future? Maybe or maybe not. Will I spend some of my money with IHRA? Most likely. There will always be someone or somebody to spend my racing dollars with. It's just that when a vendor does not provide the minimum level of service, you find another vendor who will.

Beech Bend regularly has 40-80 cars at a two day combo event. A Saturday race and a Sunday Race. You can enter one or both.

I don't own a track, but can someone answer me this? We've had two local tracks switch from IHRA to NHRA. What would be the reasoning behind it?

Terry, you don't have to be an NHRA member to race combo's at either BG or Ohio Valley. Personally I am not going to spend any money with NHRA at National events. I am going to run 3 or 4 points races, the 3 National opens, and as many combo races as I can fit in.

Which tracks and where? Location could be a factor.
