Marc, I was comparing this whole deal to my old old Belair wagon. I ran a 614 in it and all i did was change tires for 1/4 to1/8.When i sold the wagon , Mark Lewis helped the new owner with it ,. They actually replaced the gear with a 557 thinking it would help the 1/4 and hurt the 1/8. Instead it helped both. That car went 1.43 under in Rockingham the same time Lee Tuttle went 1.63 under. I have since bought that motor back and is no were close to those figures. I am lucky to run 25 to 30 under.I now have a new engine that Mark has built for me. I know it will be faster because he built a new engine to replace the old one i bought out of the ol wagon and it was at least 3 to 4 tenths faster in the wagon.I 'm just struggling to get the right combo. The converter in the wagon would foot stall up to 4500. That is why i think this is the problem. I was hoping someone out there has maybe gone through this and kinda shorten my process of elimination. Keep suggestions coming , maybe i will get lucky and stumble on a solution. If there was a problem with the tranny ,would i be able to check something or listen for some sort of noise. ?

Jery , I would be more than happy to put a 3 speed in that ol baby. I have been pushing for that very thing in IHRA. You would think after being in tech for over 10 years i would have a little pull.<NOT>lol!!@#!%#@

Danny, I talked to Billy and his falls back to 4900 rpm on the gear change. I would think you would need a 4800 converter.

Danny, give coan a call about your problem, you won't regret it. Just saw your in lagrange, nc. I use to live in the smithfield/selma area just off i-95 and ran a 1966 chev ii (327-350 hp) out of smithfield repair service. Now that was fun times
except for having to run that "cartel" out of clinton/fayetteville area. Seriously, give coan a call, they've been very helpful for me, and i'm setting on the rio grand with 100 plus degrees in the summer time(and that's in the shade). |

Mark, Yes it does roll free.Call me as soon as you are able./thanks Norman, my son works at Deacon Jones Pontiac dealer in smithfield as a service writer. Winters have been a lot milder last few years. Look me up at the IHRA National events close to you in Texas. I will be working most of them.
