Shaun LeBlanc and I ordered a dozen or so Pizza's from Pizza Hut and met em at the gate. Cost us $100, but we doubled our money once we came around the corner to where all the cars were being tore down. The track staff had long since left the concession stand. About 10 oclock there was a line from the tower, down the sidewalk to the staging lanes with carbs, intakes, and cylinder heads. They finally finished tech at 6 AM sunday morning. More than half the cars in teardown did not make the call for 1st round
I think I was there that year. That was the year it rained out, and we had to come back a few weeks later. My car was at least .20 faster than it had ever been. I showed around -2000 the whole weekend. It seemed like 90% of the cars there had "R" on the window.

Bradenton Div II race February 2006. Weather went from around 75 degrees with a slight breeze at 8:00 AM to about 39 degrees and a 15 MPH tailwind at 10:00AM. I was in tech when they called Stock and liked to break every bone in my body trying to get to the lanes. Made a run at 10:30 and went a 14.39. Normal times for me at that time was around a 14.70. To this day it is the best time recorded for that car. Not as fast as some other U/SA but fast for me. It was a whole lot of fun going that quick, but the drawback was that you had to get out of the car after the run and it was freaking cold out there.
Us South Florida boys ain't used to anything below the 70's.

the joke was made by one of the tech guys about 10PM "we should just burn the record book for heat right now, its going to be obsolete in the morning anyway"

thats right. I believe we counted close to 40 cars in teardown, so 30 records would be about right. That was one crazy weekend

On that saturday night , while all the tear dwon was going on, one of Woody Adcocks employees came over to MMP to hang out with us. he came in by the tower, and looked around for a minute ,and walked up to a couple guys in the back of the tower, with hood up and cold wrenches in hand, and asked " How do you get in this car show ?"

I think Tony ran all the way to the trailer then.

That was my first Stock race. It was cold as a well diggers *** then.

That was the best air I had ever heard of. I think you guys were right, at least 30 set records that weekend, right before Christmas.

Dad set the I/S at that particular Montgomery race, where it rained out and we had to come back. That was absolutely great conditions, and the following year, the March divisional at Memphis in 2006???(I believe), he went faster than his record, and was peddling past a 1000ft. because he was scared to death that the AFHS was going to get him. That was as fast as I have ever been, completely in bracket mode, and we have found alot of horsepower since then. But it was so cold, you couldn't leave the inside of the trailer until you run, and hurried back to the trailer to get warm. Some of you can probably correct me on the year if I am not correct. I believe when you arrived at the track in the morning that the weather station would start at around -1000ft, but nearly -800 to -600 for Friday and Saturday qualifying.
