SBC stocker oil pans

Not intending to hi-jack this particular thread but want to piggyback a question onto it. I have heard people talk about needing a removable plate on the oil pan to allow an inspection of the connecting rods?

Could someone be so kind as to describe where I need to put this access plate? Better yet be even nicer to see a picture of a pan with one. I've got my own ideas on how one should be built but would like to see one to confirm if my thinking is correct.
