I'm sure they are trying to get some of the nostalgia Funnies to run with the regular NHRA classes.

To increase the TAFC car count and provide a more affordable path to Nitro Funny Car racing.

My understanding is that there is very little in a TAFC now that can be used to run a Nitro Funny Car. The new blown nitro funny cars TAFCs will be much more easily converted to "the big show".
