If I was NHRA, I would want odd numbers at the payback rounds, because that is more money in my pocket. Maybe NHRA will make changes, but keep in mind the standard basketball hoop height is 10' and it has been that way since 1891. Is it more important to NHRA to skim the one extra semifinal round money or have a championship decided by rounds won?
It is the 21 point swing I don?t understand from R/U to winner in a six round race. I?m glad the peach basket is still 10 feet |

I assume the points structure was designed to not handicap the 'earning potential' in divisions with lower attendance and keep the maximum value of most races equal. On the other hand, there have been races where first round losers received 31 points.
