They could have an adjustment factor the Same as they use for the index at altitude corrected tracks. Or just get rid of the altitude correction all together. Then the fast guys could run all out at the higher altitude tracks. I race in the SE so we don?t have any high altitude tracks here. I do agree to bring back the mineshaft rule. Here in Fl we can see DA in the minus readings and baro above 30.30 in the late winter AMS early spring at Orlando and Gainesville. It?s rare though. Typically that type air is 2-3 tenths faster than usual air.

Here is why the AHFS doesn't work. No body wants to get HP I get it but when NHRA and the manufacturer give bogus ratings on cars and NHRA swipe of a pen or a drunken night on the keyboard and makes the 302 🚀 rockets ships. It needs to be evened out. Not putting runs in the ahfs is not a solution. The mineshaft and Indy not being in the ahfs also the whole Dutch classic this year you cant fix what everybody is complaining about that the ahfs wont work. Let's go back to yesteryear and let officials come up to you at a race and give you hp, because the way it's going nothing will be solved. I don't believe blanket index change will solve anything. The J K L indexs need to be fixed if there are others like this they would also need to be fixed. We need a couple get out of ahfs jail free cards for races on the west coast.

Yeah, no. Having an individual, basically accountable to no one, have the power to arbitrarily just hand out HP, is absolutely absurd.
A properly formulated system, published openly, is the only way to do it fairly. If people work within the system, well, that's called playing within the rules. If you're looking for a level playing field, where everyone is always equal, you ain't gonna find it.

I got in to this class because it a performance based class. Need more heads up racing, less classes combine auto and sticks. Enforce the rule book, more teardowns. Possibly 1lb weight break between the classes

I don't trust weathermen any more than I trust politicians. However, an actual formula taking into account barometric pressure, relative humidity, and grains of water in the air is purely scientific. It tells you the true effect weather has on performance potential. Just like the SAE correction factors for an engine dyno. They're not perfect, but they're based on reality and scientific fact. The qualifying sheet tells you how hard a percentage of people are pushing their combination, with weather as a contributing factor.

Let's say I'm at a race like St Louis where it is pretty fast.I get a heads up run and all I can go is about 8 tenths under.I'm going to get beat badly by my opponent since he probably can go 1.30 under. He gets a really bad light, tightens the stripe, and still runs 1.05 under.
With the mineshaft rule in effect where half the field was at least .85 under,he will not trigger? But if the mineshaft rule is not in use,he will trigger at one second under? Is that how the mineshaft rule works? |
