That works for me.
Has anyone been successful in getting an elephant to move quickly in 60'? Asking for a friend. |

From NHRA Racer dated July 2, 2024
NHRA U.S. Nationals Stock and Super Stock Runs Excluded From Automatic Horsepower Factoring System NHRA has announced that the Automatic Horsepower Factoring system will not be used during this year?s NHRA U.S. Nationals. As a result, runs made by Stock and Super Stock competitors at any time during the event will not count towards class averages, nor will they be used to trigger index or horsepower adjustments. This decision was reached as the result of competitor requests. During those discussions, a significant number of competitors expressed the desire to show the full performance potential of their cars during NHRA?s most prestigious event without fear of future horsepower and/or index penalties. The AFHS will remain in effect for all other NHRA Mission Foods National, Lucas Oil Series divisional events, and JEGS SportsNationals.

I was the 3rd alternate last year and also the first car in the staging lanes that morning. It was kind of a mess but I stayed very close to the nhra people so I wouldn?t get passed over. The nhra people kept trying to get info from the tower but weren?t having much luck. Randi Lyn sort of took charge and got the first three alternates lined up.
I really appreciated that they allowed alternates to run even though I managed to red light first round.

Glad to see this but I just wish this was the rule for all class run offs. Class run offs have no bearing on points. Put the fun back into class racing.

Bob good idea but I would add a twist. C1 is a Q run so it needs to go in the average with all of the rewards and benefits afforded by the AHFS. After C1, Class is a race within a race, like the All Stars, the runs should not count for AHFS after C1. Only Q runs and E runs during eliminations should count. A heads up in elimination will count for AHFS, but not C2 and beyond in the race within a race.
With sportsman matching for C1 it could be some interesting wheel racing tip toeing to the finish line. Last edited by Larry Hill; 07-03-2024 at 08:39 AM. |

When moving quickly, elephants may switch from a pendulum-like gait to a bouncing gait, similar to a pogo stick, without leaving the ground. This fits the biomechanical definition of running. Elephants may also flex their limbs to move more smoothly. Hope this helps Larry. Paul H |
