The early 302 blocks like 1968 are better sonic wise than the later blocks. Don't believe anything about the Mexican blocks other than. They have the hipo main caps. You can also just buy the steel main caps and install them. Definitely fill the block. Also neutral balance saves the block. Rule of thumb is 500hp and 8000 rpm is the limit on a std 2 bolt block.
