The original schedule called for 2 runs for all sportsman classes before the pros started yesterday. Heavy fog and timing system issues delayed that by a couple hours and NHRA decided to move our 2nd run to after the pros were done for the day, not the best but better than completely cutting it from the program!
Stock was in the lanes for Q2 when a T/S car tagged both walls during their 2nd qualifier at about 9:30 pm. The decision was made to call it for the day and the 2nd qualifier was re-scheduled for this morning. Give NHRA credit for rescheduling instead of canceling.

Had to wonder about the timing system issue…when they go to a “ghost” track like Chicago or Charlotte do they adequately test their systems before sending Stock (or in this case Super Street) down the track? In any case it’s good to hear they are giving a second qualifier (or at least try). As for the general treatment of sportsman classes it’s generally the law of unintended consequences that those who had the least to do with the problem are the ones who pay the highest price (you know, like in abortion and big government).

Looks like NHRA decided to do the right thing this time... Gotta keep pressure on them or you know what they will do to Sportsman. Looks like they are starting off with Q2 for Sportsman. Credit where it's due NHRA.. FOR NOW.
