I was wondering about the rake on Joe’s car but when I saw how loose he got down track in the semifinals one has to wonder. With the MPH he’s running a “parity adjustment”‘might be coming.

The tree fired 24 times in this class, and there were MAYBE three competitive races?
The premise of the class is good, but is it working?

I also noticed the rake on Welch's car, and noticed he was only Dodge running the later style front spoiler. Once he gets it moving it's a rocket. I am guessing at those speeds they are looking at doing something (NHRA).. next couple races will be interesting

Well he’s car leaves like a275 drag radial car
275 radial car only race to 1/8 mile 1/4. Mile unknown territory My buddy who’d owe a lot of grudge racing showed me this set up 5 years ago It’s the opposite of what we do

It definitely leaves like a radial tire car for sure. They do run 1/4 mile at the World Cup race in Maryland in the fall. Been a few incredibly fast radial cars deep into the 6's there that get down. But you do see them tend to be a little loose up top.

If I recall Welsh got bounced a few years ago for a rear suspension issue. Maybe he has figured out some new settings to get the car to leave like a small tire no prep car. Sure looks like it.

Watching his semifinal run I’d have to pass, looked more like adrenaline rush than the thrill of victory. Plus now he’ll get the parity hammer.

He did get disqualified @ Indy 2018 after he ran the first 7 second run, his DQ had to do with adjustable lower rear control arms which weren't allowed, the rod ends and lock nuts were welded, and had competed @ several earlier NHRA events. Welch's car spends lots of time at Mike Moran's shop in Michigan.

The coefficient of friction of the frontal area of Welch's Challenger may affect in a positive way the MPH...
Look like the foward rake seem to become at level attitude during the run which give an advantage over the "nose up attitude of others FSS". It's just my opinion... |

The mph that car is running is a monster number for that class which represents a lot of horsepower……..hmmm! That ‘nose down’ attitude’ for that car keeps frontal air from getting up in the engine compartment which would help it’s mph number a little bit. That car’s ‘nose down’ effect is similar to the optional front air dam (with rear spoiler) available on the ‘67 - ‘69 Camaros which also kept frontal air from doing the same thing.
