Good morning to all,
I've always liked a Station Wagon and a small engine.
I know it's not the best combo because of the frontal area and the amount of time on the track, but could be a "fun " ride.
Maybe put my son in something like that. What's the Index for that?

Where did you find this? I see the new class was created but the new index isn’t listed.

Yeah, I think the Caprice is probably closer to the 18lb/hp class but I'd rather not add another 200lbs to the car just to be shoved down into the new class. Honestly, we were much happier when the 265 was in the Cavalier with a stick but here we are.

My dad and I were talking and maybe QA is for the V6 Firebirds trying to run SS/PA? or for 4cyl Super Stockers if there are some in the works?

Its not like there are a lot of cars running in any of the lower SS classes anyways.

So what are they up to here? One can only speculate..
A need to pump up the S/S entries at Nat's? The new, friendlier NHRA?

It wasn't long ago that , in order to add another FWD class, they had to do away with one.

Remember, you'll need more "safety" in S/S ...Including full dress uniform, trans blanket? .roll bar or cage, 2 year belts , all for a high 12 index. Now, Joe Bracket Bomb doesn't need a bar until 11.49, but you will.

Billy, We better build two of them so we can race each other at Indy. Not much chance in the combo class, or qualifying, for that matter, the way I see it.
Meanwhile, let's bring in X/Stock too.

Mark, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Ernie Neal (?) build a Caprice with a baby LT-1? That would be my guess because it MUST be an 18 lb. car.

I would look at the '77-79 Seville, 350/180 (170 in '78-79), and the '78-79 Fleetwood Sedan, 425/180 if I wanted to build a Q car.

Edit: Billy's suggestion blows mine out of the water...

Indy 2022 #1 qualifier SS Ernie Neal '96 Caprice 10.960 12.65 -1.690
I'm gonna guess this is the guy who got his new class in exchange for not being able to run GT.

My 88 Olds wagon with 307 roller would fit.
