- my bad....This was an A864 race car and driver - who was Marshall Bell? I know Maycock was tied in with Jim Fiske's '64 High & Mighty Dodge (not to be confused with the Ramchargers), but was unaware of him driving an A864 car either. The High & Mighty car came from Hartley Motors in Fredonia, NY

Actually...two queries! Which Outlaw became Koffels car....Sonny’s or Charles Doyle? Wayland's car was called the "Wayland Hemi" from Ohio...I have not been able to find any more info on that car. A few people remember it, but not much more

Apparently A864 High & Mighty was sold by Hartley Motors to McKay Swift.

Maycock and Fiskes involvement ended here.

Unsure if the car name changed.


McKay Swift also bought an A990 - Bell Boys, Marshall Bell.

I am not even a Mopar guy but find this fascinating. The Jim Clark listed in 64 and 65 , is that a Vancouver area guy who ran alky dragsters in the 90's?

I was at his place once and recall seeing Mopar stuff and pictures.

Also didn't Grumpy Jenkins also run a Hemi in 64?

From what I recall, is that Grumpy drove a 65 Plymouth called the Black Arrow, that was owned by Doc Burgess.

In regards to the Grotheer 1967

Ive been told it was a slant six car per the vin ( thus the reason it had red interior , as All RO cars were black interior)

Early on the car had no scoop, The decal was on the decklid.
The door/decklid decals had No shading in the C A B L E lettering
Basically stock appearing hemi underhood

Shortly later it received the scoop , And only the C B E were shaded on doors only.

Then later the decklid decal went away entirely, and the door decals were shaded behind the C A B L E letting

My question would be.
Was the C A B L E and Plymouth lettering always red.?

I was around Don's 1967 car a lot and I never remember seeing it without a scoop.

I really think there is a scoop on the car in the photo you attached but just very hard to see white on white.

A good friend of mine purchased the car from Don and yes my understanding is that was was a slant six car that had the drive train from Don's 66 installed.

Does anyone know if Don raced at the 1967 Winternationals and if so what car he ran?

340 Cuda is correct - Jenkins stood in as driver in a 65 A990 Plymouth and holeshotted Dick Housey’s similar car to win the 65 Winter Nats.

Jenkins had built and tuned the car for Doc Burgess.

He came with a top reputation after dominating 64 with Dave Strickler as driver in the Dodge Boys team.

As a followup. Was the Jenkins driven Doc Burgess 1965 Plymouth an original A990 , if so it SHOULD be tan interior correct?

The info I have on file shows it was an auto?

I just would assume with Grump driving it would have been 4 spd ?
