Do you think it might have something to do with the quality of the show?

Maybe if we hadn't taken so long to pair-up at all those events....

You may be on to something there.

Easy fix though make 3 calls, then put a chain up, no matter who you are if you aren't there before the chain goes up at the back of staging ,see you at the next race .

If you were on the ladder paired up ,then give bye runs accordingly. It may take a few races ,but I guarantee that'll fix it !

Start a countdown system, you have certain amount of time to get to the lanes and paired up then staging lanes are closed, will only take one time of someone getting turned around after the lanes are closed for this to speed up.

Being from FL it was always great when the Gators came to town. 128 car fields with half the field being from FL. Then things changed in no particular order,
Fields got smaller.
Need to acquire mucho grade points.
Al Peters rule established. ( no partying after 10:00 )
Lucky if there are 5 cars in Stock from FL.
Entry fee went up.
Register your pit vehicle.
Contingency got smaller.
Surcharge fees.
Food at concession. Costs more taste less.
More circus atmosphere.
These are just some of the things, but there are certain constants.
Bathrooms smell like sulphur.
Scenic parking in the back forty.
Speeding tickets in Waldo for going over just two miles an hour.
Racers wait till the last minute to go to the lanes.
Morning sun at 8:00 am in your eyes.
Waiting to make a run only to get pushed back for different circumstances.
I'm pretty sure there are a lot more scenarios out there, but all these things happen and we still come back for more. Kind of makes you wonder.

U/SA. no partying is bs.

Pit space: Pro rigs, manufacturer's midway, souvenir trailers, hospitality areas, vip parking. It's a show and, unfortunately, we're a small part of it.

I doubt it. There's no one in Stock or Super Stock that they'd hesitate to DQ. If that was a truly big deal, a much bigger deal would already have been made of it.

This is a matter of time and space for everything that they've added to National events. Everyone keeps saying they want this class or that class added, and so many think that everyone should get to race at National events.

How many classes have been added recently? Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, Pro Modified, all the "all stars", "special events", "bonus races", and "celebrity races". That all takes time and space. Well, guess what? The classes that take the most time and require the most tech and other hassles are Stock and Super Stock. Guess who is going to get cut.

As much as I hate to see people not have a place to race, NHRA National events, or even for that matter LODRS races, simply cannot make time and space for everyone. No sanctioning body or race can be everything to everyone. To even attempt it is to flirt with disaster.

And that's one thing for people to remember, especially sanctioning bodies, track owners, and promoters. No one can be everything to everyone. And the more you stray from your core participants and fans, the sooner they go elsewhere, or simply quit, and many never return. Then when the new wears off of the part of the "show" you pushed the core aside for, they all leave. Your "show" is never as big again, and you never make the money you once did. Drag racing won't be the first motorsport it happens to, and it won't be the last.
