Default Re: Live from Lebanon Valley LODRS .90s style

OK guys it’s Tuesday woke up to nice sunny skies weather supposed to get up to 76 today believe I’ll ride the scooter around a bit pick up some groceries and what not. I do have a few issues I have to fix on the car,
Let’s backtrack a little and discuss what goes on during one of these trips. okay so most people know you go a lot of rounds but what happens in between the races, just last week I had ordered a new converter and put it in. changed transmission fluid, the transmission only has a few passes and the valve body is a new hipster with a brand new solenoid so I noticed in one round of eliminations the car rolled into the beams a hair, now just had to be me pushing on the gas before I set the break or something like that so I didn’t pay that much attention, in the finals the car rolled about 3 inches, I did come up red but came back and thought that was unusual so I set the break and the car rolled again, put it in reverse, set the brake and it seem like it hung up! what is going on here? so I put the car in the trailer, crawl underneath and noticed that the solenoid is sticking when being manually pushed in or out . I was going to take the transmission out because I didn’t want to risk it being the rod inside the valve body. I took the solenoid off anyway and noticed it was just the solenoid getting hung up, that little roll pin was hanging up on the housing of the solenoid just enough to make it stick or release slow. Had a new solenoid on the other spare transmission so I replaced that.
So I think I have that fixed. onto the next issue, I noticed I had some brake fluid leaking on the rear wheels, off comes the wheels. I take apart the caliper, replace the O-ring, noticed that the piston has a slight groove in it. put it all back together, seems like it’s not leaking now but I did notice my brakes felt like hitting a brick and still not stopping very well, so online order $500 in parts, I will take the pads back off and sand them today, hopefully I have just glazed them. I have stuff coming to the house for when I get back. I still may change that transmission because it seem like it had a lot of fine metallic in it, not sure if the brake sticking might have done something internally. I will check that today. I will adjust the band and see if it’s worth running that transmission here. sure is a lot easier to change stuff at home on the lift then on the ground in the dirt. I have this car on my lift probably every other week checking everything over, it gets a lot of runs but I built the car over 25 years ago and somethings are still original.. My point to this is if you have any issues take the time to look everything over, you may just find it in time to win the next round!
