I hope that no one will take offense to this, but I think that the recently departed would be happy if we told nice stories about them. My Johnny D story: At New England Dragway in the middle to late '70's, there were 4 bracket classes. The 11.00 to 11.99 class was considered the toughest group of drivers. After the points season, Epping held a big dollar race. Rumor was the Johnny D was coming up from Englishtown. He was already known as one of the best bracket racers around. Johnny D came, Johnny D beat the best that we had, and Johnny D went home with the money!

I also want to say that he has been one of the best spokepersons for drag racing, and Sportsman in particular, that we have ever had.

OMG, this is a shocker. I have known John since 1993 when he welded my trailer on site at Maple Grove in order for me to drive 500 miles. I bought his DRC products which were stellar. I saw John last at Norwalk where he won Super Stock. Loved his writings which I just read very recently. God bless John. Condolences to his family. He will be missed. Bobby and Nancy Rashid.
