Question Returning To Roots=no 2-steps,blinders Or Buttons In The Car Period !!!

Richard good post but... are you saying Toby Lang WAS NOT using a blinder & 2-step (with a button on the brake pedal) when he won Stock @ both Pomona & Phoenix this year??

I wasn't there naturally so I don't know except as I understand blinders aren't premitted. I also don't think that buttons on the brake pedal are as effective as on the steering wheel, etc. Futhermore "if" blinders cannot be used then I don't think that buttons of any kind are as effective.
Yes, I agree that the Lang's, Biondo's, Strickland's will always be winners. I just beleive that we are seeing some new winners with the new rules.
My opinion is that we are not seeing the killer lights that we have seen before across the board. Peter Biondo could be the exception though, he's still very tough.

Tony is correct. I have never used a button or a two-step. Although I did try to use one at the test and tune at Tucson the week after they outlawed deep staging. It wasn't working too bad until I rolled the beams on the third qualifying pass. I turned the two-step off after that and never turned it on again.

I wish we would have did away with two-steps altogether. They aren't needed exept for stick cars.

Thanks, Bob
I was wondering today where you had been. I hate that I missed you in Dallas and I hate even more that you didn't have your car. I hope that the converter is working out for you. I will try to make Houston but Rodney's little girl is having a dance recitial that Sat. and Trevor's wife is graduating. I am trying to talk Rodney into driving back after Friday qualifing and coming back Sat nite. We will see how it goes.

Toby, I am glad that you cleared up that question. I was observing that you won regularly before the buttons and are now back on again. I assumed that might be what had changed but I know that we shouldn't assume anything. Anyway congratulations on your wins by doing it the old fashion way, footbrake all the way.
I have the button on my brake petal but so far I haven't used it. I also would have been happy if the eliminated two steps on all automatics.

Thumbs up Re: NHRA stock racing returns to it's roots!

Toby and Jody work hard to go rounds. It isn't a fluke. Wins come and go for most of us, but those guys know how to put the wins together.

If I had half of the work ethic and proper preparation those guys do, I'd be dangerous.

I dont think the buttons, etc have much to do with it. The winners will win. The effort we put in dictates how well we do.
