HP factors to the '71's, which have the highest rating for Mopar 4 bbl small blocks. "Natural" class is "E" and they can adjust weight to "D" or "F". It wasn't too long ago that NHRA allowed moving to a faster class with weight removal. (Last year or two?) That's become easier over the years with lighter brakes, wheels, etc.
It's also how the '70 340 6-Pack Challenger T/A ended up in C/SA, and set the record at 10.33! They are not that heavy either. 1970 340 4bbl's have a smaller carb and the '72's lost compression and valve size.

Thanks, Jeff Lee. It would not have been possible to set the 10:56 record if it were not for the help of Rob Youngblood, from Advanced Clutch, Jim Lewis racing engines and my good friends at 21Tek. I know there are several D/S cars that can match the 10:56 ET. Records are made to be broken! Lets see how long it lasts?

And sorry for our other buddy Curtis Coulter for the loss of the 10.60 record in D/S. You boys need to have a battle; little giant killer 302 up against the mighty 428!

Thanks George Roussel for the kind words. I enjoyed meeting you as well. Young racers like you are exactly what this sport needs. And with the work ethic you displayed at Belle Rose, it is little wonder why you qualified number ONE! Keep up the good work.

Jeff Lee: Several racers I know have already told me what a nice guy Curtis Coulter is. As far as towing all the way to Las Vegas, I really do not think it is in the cards. With the price of diesel, the thought scares me... I look forward to meeting Curtis in the future, I know he is a good guy. Fact is if anyone has contact with Curtis, please give him my e-mail address: jd4446@bellsouth.net. I would love to talk to him. Thanks...

The interesting thing here is two opposing ends of the spectrum. That lite and high winding Z-28 and the 428 Cyclone which really is a tank. That's what makes Stock so interesting. As of now, the present record is only .04 apart from the old record. You better hope Curtis doesn't decide to go with Advanced Clutches (and I tried to get Curtis to make the change for years)!
Again, congratulations... Jeff

Had a good time talking to you and mr Peterson at the Gators..that is one clean machine...and fast...makes you wonder what the record would be if was at Atco or a "good" factored track...
