I was lucky enough to win super comp at the Southern Nationals a couple of weeks ago ( in a door car) I for the life of me do not understand why some of the dragsters pull through the water box and then back up through it and then back forward through it before they do a burnout. No one will ever convince me that any of that is necessary. I think that is a practice that needs to stop and am very surprised that more people haven’t been run over because of their practice of doing that.

I don’t understand why that is a common burnout practice either, but if you are in a race car, that is your area to do what you need to do. Same applies to the starting line. Anyone with a broom or whatever better have their head on a swivel.

I’ve seen the video of this incident and Roy just wasn’t paying attention.

Hey guys the idea behind it is to get the tires as damp as possible. You have to remember they don't have line locks to keep them in the water. At Charlotte I can understand it they were keeping such a small area of water even the Stockers were having trouble. Roy was the first to say he wasn't paying attention and poor Lauren was devastated. On a side note she has been able to pull herself together and is in the semis today.
Congratulations Chuck on your win it was way cool to watch and we were pulling for you!

Previous unpleasant, and could have been unpleasant, experiences and situations witnessed have taught me to never turn my back on a car in that area without a wall between us and always be aware of what every car around you is doing. Listen to them if you don't have eyes on them. Behind a car in the water or doing a burnout is not a good place to be. Not a place to be loafing around.

Wishes for Roy to recover quickly.

Update on Roy, he's still in the hospital and will be there a few more days but is doing well I'm told. He will leave the hospital and go to rehab afterwards.
