What a powerful month that's coming to an end with the hp rating of the Chevy 427 L88 rated at 430hp.
However, Ford had one more dog in this fight thanks to the 430 MEL (Mercury Edsel Lincoln), that had 400hp, and was the premiere engine in the 1958 Mercury Super Marauder. "It's torque rating of 510 ft lbs is still a phenomenal number"....(circa curbsideclassic.com). A great month for big engines and awesome horsepower ratings.
Let's not forget the all aluminum Can Am 430 Rat Motor. I don't remember the horsepower rating, but it was BIG.
