Thanks so far for the info.I am familiar a little with SS and the Comp modified cars. I had a buddy who ran SS/AS that passed away and another who ran in Comp with a B/SMA car a few years ago and both cars always intrigued me. I have run .90 stuff and done ok and tried some TS racing but looking for a new challenge/direction. I was looking at a Cobalt and was thinking it would fit a few different classes. But I have very little knowledge of much of the SS stuff for sure. Any info is a plus for me. Also looking for a car if anyone knows anything nice out there.

I'm pretty sure the Hancock/Lane car is SS/BSM. The Pacific announcers call it B Super Modified, which it 'aint. B Stock Modified...
This is a cash heavy class with a lot of high tech stuff and super carb gurus around. H/L show up at the 1/8 mile club operated airport track I bracket race at and the car is a work of art. Set a National record there once. COVID has messed with my sense of time...

Check it out here.

Al you should talk to Phil Mandella. He can not only educate you on the advantages/disadvantages of either class structure but he can build you the right car in the meantime. That Cuda would be a great starting point for a venture like this.

Mark I wish I was smart enough to do that Or even patient enough to build a car these days.I have a couple cars in mind already that are ready to go just unsure if this is a path I should even go down. I thought TS would be fun but for me it just was not something I enjoyed and time to move on...

Yes I think you did okay, weren't you a division champion?

Weren't you looking for a Dakota at one time? There is also a SS/Modified Truck, sticks and autos run together SS/TA through SS/TD weight breaks mirror SS/AS through SS/DS.

As someone trying to run SS/BS with 70s-90s technology, in my opinion if you really want to be fast, not just run the index you will need a FWD conversion with a comp eliminator grade engine. Think the Hancock and Lane SS/BS car.

That is not to say there are not some pretty fast Modified Stock cars that were RWD from the factory.

I hope to see you in a Super Stocker soon!

Basically you can take any car that is a legal super stock car and run SS/AS, BS or CS
The best would be Cobalt or Cavalier if you want to run a GM car. Change the hood to fiberglass with a scoop and put the modified style engine and drive train in it. Its a fast wheels up class and you have to drive them to the lanes and scales so you don't need a big crew to race one of these cars. The engines are fairly high dollar and RPM so they take a bit more maintenance that a traditional super stock car. I think you would have a blast running the class.
