I am old school that way as well. No formal training in anything I do. I am a commercial construction superintendent for a living so I see all kinds of challenges on the job site. Most workers on the job are very unskilled now days. Most are latino in my area.

On the racecar stuff I do everything myself. Assemble the engine, transmission and rear end. I built my car from the ground up many years ago. did all of the welding and fabricating myself. Again its old school but its an easy car to work on and fun to race. It ain't real fast but that's ok. When I was young I had a good mentor. He taught me the basics of drag race cars.

I am pretty much a do it your self guy. I fix what I can on my cars and trucks and around the house. I am a tool junkie and have lots of tools welders and torches to play with.

Latest project for me.

A friend needed 2 work benches built for his garage. Well we built the first one through trial and error, took about 6 hours. The second one took about half that time because we measured off the first one to make the second one.

Please understand that we are both 71 years old and not the best at this kind of stuff. We did have a third party (65) helping and that was worth a laugh in itself. A true comedy of errors.

After we are all done we looked on the internet and it said have a young person build it for you. HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We did buy more new tools for the project VERY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Duplicating something or doing the next one usually take me longer than the first!
That's because the beer is starting to kick in.

Mike, I like your humor. Neither my friend or myself drink, but that doesn't mean that we can't mess up. We are HUMAN.

"Jack of all trades, Master of Many".. Had to change to this when I was in business was pitching a project to a customer, used the original and they said they do not want go with our company because we were not master mechanics.

I have learned not to destroy something I might not know how to fix until I am sure I can get a replacement. Some stuff gets put together nowadays that looks repairable but companies make it really hard to get apart, especially with some of the glues and epoxies
