Yeah, I use to love to yank on them Hurst shifters myself. Back in the early to mid '60's, most of the quick street, and strip Pontiacs were sticks. But, the stick cars of today are a lot different from back when they had a T-10 or Muncie, with a Hurst shifter.

I could post pics of lots of stick Pontiacs. But I'll just post 5. The 1st one actually represents 2 of my favorite 1st gen Bird Stockers. It's a tribute car to the Bird that won both the '73 & '77 US Nats. Truman Fields also won class at Indy, in '77, with this tribute car, then raced it for many years. Todd Hoven raced it for a while, with it's tribute paint job, as pictured.

The 2nd pic is of Jack Mullins' famous 389 stick wagon, which won the '75 US Nats & a few other nat & division races. Jack was my 1st Pontiac hero.

The 3rd pic is of a '72 stick GTO which was provided to Truman Fields. All 5 of these cars were nat record holders, at some point in their history.

The 4th car is John Clegg's original SD455 stick Bird. He won D/S @ Indy in '73. Raced it in SS for years. Updated it a couple of years back & J.B. is still racing it. Ran some 9.60's last weekend.

The last pic is the Clegg's '74 SD455 T/A. It was the H-O Racing Specialties nat record holder. J.B. ran it with an auto for a while, then switched over to a stick.

Thanks for the great pics. I love to hear a good stick shift driver banging gears. I guess that's why I loved modified production so much. High rpm's and a stick shift. There is no sound like it.
