Why would everybody not go across the scales, just to be safe?

We use to always stop at the scales to make sure the other guy weighed ok. But I'm old also haha.

I always wait at the scales if I lost a round just to be sure. My dad has been reinstated over the years a couple times when the winner drove on by the scales. And I'm one of the young ones at 51...
